What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin is a peptide, which is a very small protein. It is made of five amino acids, so it is called a pentapeptide. It is built to copy ghrelin. Ghrelin is a natural hormone that signals the release of growth hormone (GH).

It attaches to a spot on the pituitary gland called GHSR. Labs study how picky that attachment is next to other GH peptides.

What researchers study it for

• Release of GH. Labs study how it prompts the pituitary gland to release GH.
• How picky it is. Studies look at how tightly it binds GHSR next to other hormone sites.
• Other hormone levels. Labs measure whether GH release comes with a rise in cortisol and prolactin.
